So others may learn

One of the largest populations of orphans on earth is in Ethiopia, which has an estimated 6 million. 7.8 million Ethiopian children are out of school. The poor families of Ethiopia rely on the labor of their children to survive, making it hard for these children to recieve a decent education.

Since cost is the primary reason for this deprivation of education, the Alliance Investment Fund (ALIF) has launched the Hiwot Campaign. Through this effort, the ALIF has set a goal to send 50 orphans and vulnerable children to school in conjunction with the new millenium according to the Ethiopian calendar: September 11th, AD 2007 on the western calendar.

100% of the contributions are expected to go towards advancing the education of disadvantaged Ethiopian children ages 4 to 18. Hopefully, monetary contributions shall break the generational cycle of impoverishment and child labor found in Ethiopia.
