To Stop a Genocide

Winston Churchill once said, "The Problems of East Africa are the problems of the world." His belief has been vindicated through recent events. In the nation of Sudan, the province of Darfur, a large scale series of atrocities are being perpetraited by the al-Bashir government. Awareness of this human rights disaster is being propagated by many organizations, including one at the collegiate level.

"Students Taking Action Now: Darfur" or STAND, was formed in 2004 amidst the growing tragedy of Darfur. It is one of the fastest growing anti-genocide student groups in the country, with more than 700 chapters in numerous countries. Although their main focus is Darfur, STAND hopes to create a permanent anti-genocide constituency in order to make sure "Never again" is held to by our elected officials, and indeed nations around the world.
