Californians protest gay marriage ban for 2nd night

Some years ago Californian voters approved a referendum law defining marriage as being between a man and a woman. That show of democracy was undermined by San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom, who went ahead and married off gay couples in light of the law of the land. Recently the California Supreme Court undermined the will of the people yet once more by striking down the law, which prompted Proposition 8 on the November ballot. On Election Day, the will of the people and proper morality triumphed again with 52% of the vote. However, as shall be seen, the Homosexual Advocacy Movement still refuses to stop its efforts at intimidation, fear-mongering, and in essence, opposing popular rule in a republic.

According to CTV.ca "protesters took to the streets in California Thursday to voice their anger at the passage of Proposition 8, an anti-gay marriage initiative on the ballot in Tuesday's election."

Although 52% of the population voted in favor, "About 1,000 demonstrators protested outside of a Mormon temple in Los Angeles" because the "Mormon Church actively campaigned for the measure." In other words the same people who passionately talk about respecting minorities gladly tossed that aside in extremist belly-aching.

Of course the really annoying fact is pointed out by the article, as it notes that 70% of African-Americans voted for the proposition. At least activist quoted by the article draws that specious parallel between the proposition and the civil rights movement. When will they ever do their history homework? Probably around the same time they begin to respect the law, as voted on in a democracy.
