In February of 2006 I wrote an article in the GMU Broadside that "tweaked the nose" so to speak of Evolutionist Apologetics throughout the George Mason Campus and numerous websites. The tragically brief critical analysis of the Theory of Evolution eventually got a rebuttal piece written against it. It would not be for a couple months afterwards that I would find the James Randi Forum thread that had a series of postings amassing evidence against my case, and numerous insults along the way. Now in 2007, I finally have a vehicle of response to the many allegations made.
My prayer was that the posters who contributed to the thread would come across my response. In many ways my prayers have been answered, as seen with the Student Government Forum of GMU. On a thread where I had gone from talking about my website to debating with a militant atheist, the starter of the James Randi Forum Thread and writer of the rebuttal article posted. His post is copied below, followed by a link to the thread in question. Caveat: the other postings on the thread are a typical back-and-forth debate on various topics regarding religion and morality and have nothing to do with the James Randi Forum issue.
Hi [Michael Gryboski], just figured I'd chime in. Just finished reading your "Answering James Randi Forum" entry. I'm the one who wrote the rebuttal to the piece in question.
It was interesting for me to get a chance to see your responses. I am sorry that the thread in question also seemed to devolve (no pun intended) into things that weren't really relevant.......... when I wrote the rebuttal I made a point to not complain about grammatical issues, etc. (because they really aren't relevant), nor that you were a History major. The fact that you're a History major and I'm an English major I think are irrelevant to whether or not either of us can discuss a scientific topic.
Anyway, interesting to read, and it's nice to get a chance to see your reply to my rebuttal. I would definitely commend you on sticking to your guns and defending your beliefs. Even if I don't agree with you, I think you do a great job of making your case in the issues you have brought up.
Good luck with the site and your continued efforts.
Although I have to admit, I don't really appreciate the characterization of my rebuttal as a "waste of space", but so be it.
All I can say is that personally at least, I don't have any contempt for you. The main reason I started the thread over at JREF was more about discussing the issues you raised and the proper way to respond to them from a scientific perspective.
